Appleton Farms

Okay, okay-- so a yeti isn’t exactly a farm animal. But we’ve got all kinds of critters who call the many habitats of Appleton home, and our Farm Yetis have the tools to track them! We’ll spend our days looking out for signs of life in the snow, and we’ll make our own “yeti” tracks if we have good snowshoeing weather. We’ll also spend plenty of time warming up with the barnyard animals!

We’ll learn how to tap a maple tree, collect sap, and boil it down using the powers of evaporation. Maple magicians will make connections with the changing seasons and learn what plants need to survive the long New England winters. Through games, crafts, hikes, and stories about the history of maple sugaring, your child will walk away with new friends and a new appreciation for their favorite pancake topping.

As spring rolls around, we’ll celebrate the big ball of plasma in the sky by asking questions about how it impacts our world. Kids will find their spot in the food web as we explore the sun, soil, seeds, and plants! We’ll welcome spring through arts and crafts, outdoor exploration, and lots of “chores” in the barnyard and garden. Themes: Mud magic - water cycle - seeds and planting - baby animals – frogs
